The festive season is going on across West Bengal. Autumn festival has just ended. Diwali and Vaiphonta are the festivals of lights left. In the mood of this festival, there is fear of cyclone Dana.
According to the Alipur Meteorological Department of Kolkata, low pressure may develop in the Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours. That low pressure will gradually increase in strength. Due to low pressure, light to moderate rainfall is likely to occur in various districts of the state for a few days.
It is not yet clear where this cyclone will enter the land or where it will hit. However, it is feared that the storm may hit the coast of West Bengal-Orissa.
Due to the cyclone Dana, there is a risk of storm at a speed of about 55 kmph. Heavy to very heavy rain is expected in various districts of West Bengal including Kolkata next Wednesday and Thursday.
Tourists visiting the sea have been asked to be careful. A high wave warning has been issued near the coast.
In the meantime, West Bengal Government Secretariat Navanna has started preparing to deal with the cyclone. A spot inspection of the condition of dams in coastal areas has been ordered.
The necessary relief materials have been ordered to be stockpiled. Fishermen have been banned from going into the deep sea. All coastal areas of West Bengal are on special alert and regular miking has been ordered.
Keeping in mind the danger of massive damage due to cyclone Dana, the West Bengal government is making advance preparations.
