Multiple wildfires have broken out across Australia’s Victoria state. In the meantime, the local authorities have informed that the residents have been evacuated to a safe place. However, no casualty has been reported so far in this disaster.
According to the report of the French news agency AFP, the fire has so far destroyed one house. More houses are feared to be destroyed. On Saturday (November 16), wildfires broke out at 80 locations due to strong winds and high temperatures. Hundreds of firefighters are battling the blaze.
The report also said that strong winds are expected to blow in Victoria on Sunday afternoon. Conditions may worsen until colder air moves in.
The country’s fire authorities said on Sunday that the wildfires in the western and southern regions of the state will be the most challenging and likely to burn for some time.
Victoria’s emergency management commissioner Rick Nugent said the two fires, which have burned more than 1,900 hectares of forest, are still under control. He said that there has been damage to stored crops and agriculture in that area.
Fire officials also said 10 hikers were among the hundreds of residents evacuated from the national park. However, no death has been reported so far.
