Prime Minister Michel Bernier has been ousted in France’s first no-confidence vote in more than 60 years.

The Prime Minister submitted his resignation letter on Thursday (December 5) morning. President Emmanuel Macron is scheduled to address the nation in the evening.

“I can tell you that it will be an honor for me to serve the people of France with honor,” Bernier said in his final speech before the no-confidence vote.

But he said, this mistrust will make everything more serious and more difficult. I am sure about this.

A hung parliament was formed after a recent snap parliamentary election resulted in no party having an overall majority. The only key to the government’s survival there lies in the hands of the far right.

Macron now has the task of choosing an effective successor. He has more than two years left in his presidential term. Although some of the opposition demanded his resignation.

Meanwhile, the divided parliament will remain unchanged for the time being. Because according to the law, no new legislative elections can be held until at least next July.

The hard-left moved the no-confidence motion in Parliament recently amid the deadlock over passing the Social Security funding bill without a vote.
